As part of the Association Day programme Zytrex 2025, the Department of Computer Applications and CASIN organized an Idea Hackathon on 12 December 2025 at Software Lab II. The event was designed to foster innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and problem-solving skills among students by encouraging them to develop technology-based solutions for contemporary societal challenges. The theme of the Idea Hackathon was “Digital Safety for Children / Fake News Identification.” The theme was selected in view of the increasing exposure of children to digital platforms and the growing impact of misinformation in society. The hackathon witnessed active participation from student teams representing various departments. Each team conceptualized innovative ideas addressing one or both sub-themes of digital safety for children and fake news detection. Students presented their solutions through PowerPoint presentations, explaining the problem statement, proposed solution, technological approach, feasibility, and expected impact. The presentations were evaluated by Mrs. Abigail Ann Clement, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Commerce and an Entrepreneurship Educator. The evaluation was based on criteria such as innovation, relevance to the theme, feasibility, social impact, clarity of presentation, and teamwork. The judge also provided constructive feedback and entrepreneurial insights, encouraging students to refine their ideas further. The Idea Hackathon conducted as part of Zytrex 2025 was a meaningful and impactful academic initiative. It provided an effective platform for students to address real-world digital challenges through innovative ideas and collaborative learning. The programme significantly contributed to outcome-based education by nurturing creativity, social responsibility, and problem-solving skills among students
