Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Cell

The Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Cell of Nirmala Arts and Science College Mulanthuruthy, aims to spread awareness about Human Rights and Gender Equality among the faculties, staffs, students and the near society. It also focuses at the personality development of individual. It helps to lead a decent and dignified life without infringing the rights of others. Individuals cannot use their full potential if they are denied from legitimate rights. However, these Human Rights are totally ignored and violated these days. With this commitment to uphold the rights, dignity and equal opportunity in the campus and society, our college has constituted a Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Cell on International Human Rights Day December 10th, 2020.

Vision

The vision of the cell is to protect human rights and ensure equal opportunity among students, faculties and other peoples in the campus.

Mission

To promote, preserve and implement human rights and equal opportunities in the institutions by effective policy framing, to control human rights violations and enhance capacity building in the campus.

Objectives

  • To educate and create awareness about human rights.
  • To enhance the dignity and equal opportunities in the campus.
  • To study and examine cases of human rights violations in and around the campus.
  • To train the young minds for facing the challenges of the society and provide them the awareness of equal opportunities for all irrespective of gender, caste, religion, region and culture.

Report 2021

Celebrated Zero Discrimination Day – March 1st , 2021

Harmony is felt when all treated equally, hence commemorating zero discrimination day becomes a mutual obligation. Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Cell of Nirmala Arts and Science College, Mulanthuruthy conducted an exhibition of posters prepared by students regarding the significance of the day. On March 1st, 2021, the posters were placed in different prime spots in college which catches the attention of students, teachers, and non-teaching staffs.

Celebrated International “Human Rights Day”- conducted a discussion on ‘Human Rights Violations’ all over the world- December 10th , 2020

Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year on 10th December. Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Cell of Nirmala Arts and Science College Mulanthuruthy had organised the inauguration of the cell followed with a talk on the topic – “A Discussion on Human Rights Violation” on 10th December 2020 at 5:30 pm via Google Meet platform.  The session addressed various issues related on child abuse, women problems, gender discrimination, violations of human rights etc.
