BSc Psychology

Bachelor of Psychology is a three-year six-semester undergraduate programme. The B.Sc. (Psychology) degree course involves the study of mental processes, motives, reactions, feelings, conflict resolution, crisis management, groupthink, motivation, and the nature of mind.

The programme B.Sc. Psychology includes Common courses, Core courses, Complementary courses, Open courses, Seminar, Project, and viva voce. No course shall carry more than four credits except practicals. Every student has to select one open course in semester V offered by various departments of the College. This programme focuses on the holistic development of students and the being that facilitator to grow as an empathic and socially responsible psychologist who can influence thousand minds.

Programme Specific Outcome

  • Describe the psychological principles, theories and methods to recognize the complexity of human behaviour.

  • Administer different psychological experiments to determine the nature of human behaviour and to develop a scientific temper.

  • Explain the conceptual framework of the empirical research and develop the ability to conduct them.

  • Explain the diagnostic criteria, symptoms, course, incidence, prevalence, etiology, prognosis and correlates of major mental disorders and learn the psychological, biological, and sociocultural theoretical perspectives of abnormal behaviour.

  • Develop theories and methods of statistics and apply them to understand human behaviour.

  • Explain language as a communication system and acquire a technical vocabulary.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for applying for B.Sc. Psychology are:

  • Candidates must have completed plus two or  equivalent examination or an examination recognised by the MG University and equivalent thereto.
