
The Department of Computer Applications in association with Career Guidance and Placement cell organized a Skill enhancement programme – Career Counselling on July 30, 2025, for 2024–28 BCA batch students(2nd year).The program began with a formal welcome address by Mrs. Parvathy TK(Asst Proffesor Dept of Computer Applications). She extended a warm welcome to the resource person and the participants, emphasizing the importance of professional development in today’s competitive job market.
The career orientation session led by Mrs. Binu Bahuleyan, Assistant Centre Manager and Career Counsellor at the Career Development Centre, Tripunithura, provided BCA students with valuable direction and clarity regarding their future pathways. Emphasizing the importance of making well-informed decisions post-graduation, she introduced a wide range of academic and skill-based options available to students, including postgraduate programs like MCA (Master of Computer Applications), M.Sc. in Computer Science, MBA with an IT specialization, and Post Graduate Diplomas in areas such as Data Science, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, and Artificial Intelligence. She also discussed industry-relevant short-term and long-term certifications such as Full Stack Development, Software Testing, Ethical Hacking, Web and Mobile App Development, and Networking courses like CCNA and CompTIA. Through this comprehensive overview, students gained insights into how these courses can bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry demands. In addition, Mrs. Binu highlighted the significance of both technical skills and essential soft skills—including communication, problem-solving, adaptability, and teamwork—which play a crucial role in employability. The session helped students understand current IT job market trends, identify suitable career tracks based on their interests and strengths, and left them better equipped to make strategic, career-oriented decisions.
