National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. NSS aims to create social awareness among the students and the all-around development of their personalities. The NSS Unit of this College conducts regular and special camps, awareness classes, demonstrations, personality development programmes etc., for the volunteers. Blood donation to the poor and necessary patients is a noble activity of the NSS. There NSS unit113 of the College has a volunteer strength of 100 volunteers. Only these students will be granted the benefits for the same in accordance with the University’s rules regarding NSS volunteers. NSS attempts to establish meaningful linkages between ‘Campus and Community’, ‘College and Village’ and ‘Knowledge and Action’.
- To understand the community in which the NSS volunteers work and to understand themselves in relation to their community;
- To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve themselves in problem-solving exercises;
- To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility;
- To utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems;
- To gain skills in mobilizing community participation;
- To acquire leadership qualities and democratic values;
- To develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters; and
- To practice national integration and social harmony.
