The National Seminar on Art Therapy is an initiative taken by the post graduate department of psychology. There were participants from various colleges across Ernakulam. The inaugural session of the event started at 10 am in the new auditorium of the college with a prayer song. The welcome address was given by the head of the post graduate department of psychology, Mrs. Nikita Sunny which was followed by the lamp lighting ceremony. Sri. George Kuriakose, manager of Nirmala Arts & Science College, gave the presidential address and Dr.C.A.Geetha, Principal of Nirmala Arts & Science College gave the Principal’s message. The inaugural ceremony was ended by a vote of thanks by Mrs. Sona Octave, Asst.Professor, Department of Psychology.

The resource persons were introduced for their sessions to the participants by the faculties of the department. The seminar sessions were on the topics “Creative therapy on clinical practice” and “Is Art therapy for everyone?”. There was question and answer session after the two seminars, so that the participants could clear their queries. The vote of thanks was given out by Sheethal. M.R, 3 rd year Bsc. Psychology.Art therapy workshop started at 2 pm by engaging the students in all possible ways and ended by 3:30 pm. Workshop was followed by a valedictory function, where the certificates were provided.Valuable feedbacks regarding the event were shared by the resource persons and participants.Though it was the first National Seminar conducted in the college, the event was a grand success. There were over 70 participants for the seminars and over 30 participants for the workshop. The event was indeed fruitful and informative.Students, participants and faculties were able to know the different aspects of therapy and how it can be used therapeutically.
