“A journey through mental health in film” (Awareness programme).

The connection between cinema and psychology offers a unique perspective on understanding human behaviour and mental processes. Department of Psychology organized a film review program focused on acting the characters and reviewing psychological films. This program aimed to deepen the participants’ understanding of various psychological concepts through the lens of cinema. The Programme was held at the psychology department on 09th of July 2024 at 10 AM. The event began with a welcome address by Sona T.M, HOD department of psychology, who introduced the significance of analysing psychological films and how they contribute to a better understanding of complex psychological phenomena. The participants were then guided through a carefully selected film that portrayed intricate psychological themes, allowing them to observe and reflect on the characters mental states and behaviors. All the first-year students participated in the programme. Each studentpresented a character from a film and discussed the mental disorder depicted and its impact on the character’s life. The programme received positive feedback from both audience and participants. The event highlighted the importance of empathy and need to destigmatize mental health disorders. In summary the programme successfully met its objective by educating students about mental health through engaging and interactive methods.
